State-of-the-art training for great careers that let you use your hands and your brain.

The Sierra College mechatronics program teaches you real-world skills, not just math and theory. Our curriculum was developed in consultation with local industry to insure that we are teaching up-to-date industrial skills. Our lectures are followed by labs where you actually do what was talked about during the lecture. And all of our lab equipment is industrial-quality, the same equipment you will see working out in industry. See the photo gallery links above for examples of some of our equipment.

Whether you are a recent high-school graduate looking for your next educational step or you are looking to get out of a dead-end job path or you are a technical professional looking to broaden your skill set, this program will work for you. Whatever stage you are at in your career path, our state-of-the-art instruction will provide you with the skills you need to get you working in the field of mechatronics.

We don't assume that students have any previous technical training or advanced mathematics skills when they enter our program. We teach you what you need to learn in incremental steps. There are no required math courses. The ability to do basic algebra is the only math needed to successfully complete our program. Five of our seven required courses have no pre-requisites, so students can start with the classes that interest them the most.

Our mechatronics program prepares you for well-paid careers as a skilled technician in a variety of technical industries. Our graduates are working on ski-lifts at Sugar Bowl, automated can and bottling equipment at Anheuser-Busch, underwater robots at Schilling Robotics and many other local-area employers. Typical salaries range from $35,000 to over $50,000 per year starting pay. You don't need to be a math or science expert to obtain these jobs, but you do need specialized training and the willingness to get the job done and do it right. We provide the training, you bring the motivation.

Unlike private technical schools, you don't emerge from our program deep in debt. The total tuition to complete our certificate program is less than $1,200. For an associate's degree in mechatronics, the total tuition is less than $2,900. Financial aid is often available. Other schools cost from 5 to 10 to even 20 times as much! Despite the low cost, you benefit from small class sizes, state-of-the-art laboratories, highly-skilled professional instructors and a real college experience including sports teams, on-campus events, student clubs and more.

Our program can also be a great foundation for an engineering degree at a four-year university. Former students have told us that the hands-on real-world experience that students get from our program gives them a big advantage over students that go to engineering school having only had high-school math and science classes.
